The Akron Society of Artists awarded the Robert L. Spannbauer Scholarship this year to Phoebe Yao, a senior at Aurora High School. The $1,000.00 Award was presented to Yao at the Northeast Ohio Central District annual awards ceremony held at the Kent State University Stark County Campus in January. The award was based upon the unanimous vote of the ASA Scholarship Committee and recognized Yao’s talent through a large series of dynamic figurative paintings. Yao is a student of art faculty member Sean Berrodin, a highly respected artist and educator at Aurora High School.
