Juror Comments:
“It takes courage to be judged. There is much to be gained from the experience, as it is an important part of every artist’s journey.
It occurs that it is the juror’s responsibility to select the art, which demonstrates a clear sense of intent, style and a mastery of the techniques necessary. There is a resulting hierarchy of accomplishment. There is always the human filter but serious effort is made to be consistent and objective. It is a privilege and honor to be entrusted with such responsibility. Congratulations to all the artists.”
1st Place Award

Juror Comments: “The success of this painting is derived from the accomplished joyful control of light and saturated color. Photo realism demands care with every particular and this composition meets that task with conviction.”
2nd Place Award

Juror Comments: “The success of this painting is the intimacy generated by the articulate draftsmanship and personal stylization. The small scale and delicate color harmony reveal both the artist’s vision and something unique within the subject.”
3rd Place Award

Juror Comments: “The success of this painting is the scale and confidence in the brushwork. It is clear that the artist cares deeply about the subject and the stylistic methods chosen.”
Al Horn Award

Juror Comments: “The success of this painting is the confidence and power of both brushwork and free use of color. Time is of the essence in this manner of painting as the light constantly transforms and this demonstrates a pleasure in that moment to moment process.”
